Happy Birthday!
Rosemary H. writes...

Instead of getting a regular 'Happy Birthday' sign for a party, why not have passport sized photos printed of the persons loved ones?  Paste them onto cardboard in the shape of the letters that spell 'Happy Birthday' and have it laminated.  They can put it on a wall after their birthday and see photos of their loved ones all year round.

Photo Family Tree
Rowan B. writes...

Talking to my 91 year old grandmother about the history of our family made me think of the photos that we have that go back 5 generations. I am going to scan them into my computer to in order to illustrate a family tree for my own children, so that they can see all the family members that we tell stories about. To make it extra special I am going to add some photos which bring those stories to life, like my Dad as a child with his prize-winning pig and my Grandfather on his tractor.

Collage Leaving Card
Rowan B. writes...

For a special leaving gift, take photos of all the departing colleague's team members and use them in a collage print that can be part of a large card or framed for them. Add any funny ones you have from past nights out etc.

Bump to Baby Photo Book
Kate B. writes...

Create a photobook of bump to baby! I put together a photobook covering my pregnancy (including my scan pictures and photos of the ever-expanding bump), our first moments with my son and loads of his baby pictures covering the first few months of his life - first smile, playing with his favourite toys, family occasions, first Christmas, meeting new people...the possibilities are endless! Every few months I create a new photobook so I have a complete record of his first year that I know I'll love to look back on for years to come. They also make great gifts for relatives who are far away and have missed my son growing up.

Keepsake Picture
Natalie M. writes...

Make a keepsake picture to go in a frame or scrapbook with your child's handprint. Next to the handprint have your child's photograph (perhaps of them doing the handprint with the paint) and underneath a poem about little handprints.

Family Calendar
Family Langleben writes...

Each year we create a calendar as a gift for each member of the extended family. For each month we use pictures of the kids taken in that month in the previous year. Everyone loves being able to see what the kids looked like a year ago and how they have changed over the last 12 months. We also personalise special family dates, birthdays, anniversaries, and festivals too, with photos on these days, though we have had to create mini-collages for those dates with more than one family event! We have just finished creating our third annual calendar and can't wait to share it with the grandparents...

Personal Birthday Cards For Family & Friends
Christine R. writes...

Choose a photo (print) that the person will like: Their cat or dog, flowers, a view of a place they've visited, or anything connected with their interests such as a steam train, a horse, a butterfly, bird or wild flower, or a holiday photo. If you have nothing suitable handy just go and take a photo specially, such as one of a teddy bear or a duck or lamb or kitten for a young child. It is quicker to stick a 6"x4" print on a 7"x5" card, but if you use a smaller card you can trim the print with special scissors to create a fancy edging. Choose a plain card of a colour that goes with the print - or red or silver at Christmas - and stick on the photo. Add a Happy Birthday sticker, and inside paste some words, possibly from an old card, or some words you like or a few handwritten words. You can add a bit of ribbon, lace or foil decoration too if you wish. Also say when and where the photo was taken - the recipient will find it more interesting and be sure to want to keep the card when the rest go for recycling! Keep a few spare prints ready in a folder then you will have something handy for a suddenly remembered birthday!

Birthday Calendar
Holly W. writes...

If any of you have a big extended family, you know how hard it is to keep track of everyone's birthdays. For Christmas last year, We gave my mother a birthday calendar. For each month, find photos of the people in your family whose birthday it is, and collect them all together. Then, go onto Snapfish and add the photos onto one of their excellent calendars. You can write the birthday's in on the right days too, with even a photo of that person on the day! And in the months where no-one has a birthday, how about a big family photo? My mother has 4 children, 10 grandchildren and various other family member, so it was a great present for her. You can even, keep your calendar afterwards, just for the dates, but we are planning to buy her a new one this year, with up-to-date pictues. This is a great personal christmas present idea, which is very useful too. Snapfish is a great place to make ideas like this come alive, so how about a unique birthday calendar for the one you love.

Scrap booking
Naomi P. writes...

Create a special 'Photo Scrapbook' with photos of all your most special memories. Select and print a few photos that are special to you/the person you are creating it for, and create a page for each photo...you can decorate the background of each page however you wish, you could choose a theme for each one! You can add writing and other images to make the page more interesting. You could also add tickets/tokens/receipts etc... from the events that your photos capture. You can create this for yourself as a special way of looking over the past; or as a personal, thoughtful gift to someone - displaying all the happy times they have shared with you.

GREETING CARDS -
Birthday Card
Tom T. writes...

Idea for a birthday card for a relative. Scan and upload their photograph on the front from when they were younger and inside you can write your own message and on the other inside area you can write who has the same birthday as them or if something famous happened on that day. I have done one for my Nana's 78th birthday and I am sure she will love it.

PHOTO BOOK -
Photo Book
Pat W. writes...

I have grasped the nettle and have gone back over the past seven years of digital photographs to make a Snapfish album for each year. The title page shows the year and a special event which happened, daughter's wedding, birth of grandchildren, special holiday etc. I then put a couple of photos for each month. This was helped by having a husband who is diligent at filing photos in year and month order on the computer. I now have seven lovely albums to look back on and have vowed to do one each January for the previous year. Digital photography has enabled us all to take lots more pictures but, unless we do something with them they end up stored on the computer, the equivalent of the drawer full of photos which we always say we will put into an album 'one day'.

PHOTO BOOK -
Scrap booking
Hannah J. writes...

Throughout 2007 I have been putting all the photos together from holidays, days out and family gatherings and putting them onto the photo book. At the end of the year I can send off for the book to be printed, and shall then have a lovely book to show family members of what we did that year, along with a nice keepsake photo book, with all my photos in one place. In some cases I have scanned in wedding / christening invitations and little bits, and put them onto the photo book, so it is more like a scrapbook without all the fiddly bits of paper and glue!

I have been using Snapfish for over a year now, and am very happy with all the results I have got. I am also pleased with the recent improvements that have been made to the photo book, including more photo layouts and being able to see easily what photos have already gone on the book, along with the easy edit tool.

PHOTO BOOK -
Scrap booking
Katia D. writes...

This year I decided to get my Mum & my Mum-In-Law a scrapbook for Christmas...A very special scrapbook!

I put 14 photos of each of my girls together (from bump to first birthday) and the captions provided the different milestones (from being able to hold head up to taking their first step unaided).

Although they are 2 and a half years apart, whoever looks at the books will be able to compare them a lot better: facial features, achievements, height & weight from birth to first birthday!

I have done all this before I discovered Snapfish. My job is going to be much easier when I do a couple more (great grandmothers and aunties). All I have to do is choose the photos, use the tools to edit them, add borders and captions and someone else will put it all together for me...No more glueing and sticking...A much better / professional finish!

PHOTO BOOK -
Reading Book
Stephanie V. writes...

Create your own reading book - I took photos of my four year old making cakes, weighing ingredients, adding the egg, stirring, cooking, decorating and eating. We made a photo book from the pictures and I added simple text that she could read. She was so proud to take a real book that she had made with photos of her in it to school and read it to her teacher! For older children they could write a story first and take their own pictures to go with it.

Use prints creatively
Rosie H. writes...

I took a bunch of old photos and cut them into the shapes and sizes I wanted. Then I glued them onto one of those strong, plain cardboard boxes that are ideal for art & craft activities, overlapping each photo. I stuck them on in various ways; straight, angled, upsidedown, etc. After the glue had set, I coated them in a hard laquer to protect the box (no, it didn't ruin the photos). And...hey presto...I had a lovely box decorated with memories. I use my box to store all of my precious keepsakes in. This is a wonderful idea for kids, as they can create a box marking special events in their lives. (First year at school, a special trip, etc). They can keep mementos from those events in their boxes. Also a lovely Christmas / birthday present for a loved one.

POCKET BOOKS/COLLAGES -
Alphabet Album
Tina O. writes...

Make your own alphabet book by having the kids take photos of things beginning with each letter and assembling them into a pocket book or collage. (Examples: C-Cat, F-Flower). We took a bunch of pictures at the zoo (M-Monkey, Z-Zebra) and almost had our album complete!

POSTER PRINTS -
Family Faces
Anne B. writes...

My sister made a set of home-made placemats for my 50th birthday, and I take them out every year and use them the month of my birthday. You can do the same with your kids. Take photos of your family (or pets, or favourite places) and blow them up into small poster prints or create photo collages. Then laminate them and use them as placemats. Photo placements would also be wonderful gifts for families with young children so that they could learn the names of relatives who don't live nearby.

GROUP ROOMS -
Shared Memories
Gemma R. writes...

At the beginning of the school year, I created a group room for our school team. Throughout the year, various photographers (a.k.a parents) added albums of the squad's events throughout the year. We have probably accumulated over 1,000 pictures. The group room has been great for sharing pictures and capturing this year from many different perspectives. For the end-of-the-year, we decided to create a Photo Book of the different pictures and "memories." What started off to be one book for the local sponsor will now be 7 more, gifts for our daughters for the end of the year - their own personal "yearbook." Thanks for offering the tools to allow us to capture, share, and memorialise this very special time in our children's lives.

SNAPFISH IN SCHOOLS -
Stained Glass Class
Kelly D. writes...

I accompanied my students on a field trip where they studied the stained glass windows of our local church. We took pictures of the windows and described them. We used Snapfish to create a Photo Book and then donated it to the school auction. The children got to be published authors and photographers :).

where we live
Sam D. writes...

Have your kids create a Photo Book of your home or town. They can take photos of each room (or places in your town) and then draw maps of their own. Upload the photos (and the maps, in .jpeg form) to Snapfish and create a Photo Book. On each two-page spread, use one side to display the photo and the other to display the map.
