Overview
You can store and share short videos on Snapfish the same way that you store and share your favorite photos. It's fast and easy, and a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. All you need to start sharing is a Snapfish Home Videos Subscription.

Because video files are much larger than photos, we charge a small subscription fee to store your videos on the site: either £1.99 a month or £15.99 a year. There is no charge, however, for your friends to view your videos. Just like with photos, your friends just need a free Snapfish account.

Video Format and Length
Videos must be in either MOV, AVI, 3gp or MPG (motion jpeg) format. They must also be shorter than 10 minutes in length. If you have videos in other formats or that are longer than 10 minutes, you can try using video editing software like iMovie or Windows Movie Maker to make your video suitable for uploading to Snapfish.

Uploading Videos on a PC
Uploading videos to Snapfish is very similar to uploading photos. If you haven't signed up for a Home Videos subscription yet, we'll walk you through the steps below.

NOTE: You can use Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers to upload videos to Snapfish.

If you're a current Home Videos subscriber:

From your photo library page, click 'upload photos.'

  1. On the next page, select the album to which you would like to upload your photos, or name a new album. Then click the yellow 'upload to this album' button.

  5. You'll see an indicator that the upload is in progress. Please don't close the upload window or go to any other part of the website until your upload has finished. We'll let you know when it's done.
  6. When your upload has finished, you'll see a confirmation page displaying all the videos (and photos) that were successfully uploaded. Click 'view entire album' to view and share your videos.

If you're not a Home Videos subscriber:

From your photo library page, click 'upload photos.'

  1. On the next page, select the album to which you would like to upload your photos, or name a new album. Then click the yellow 'upload to this album' button.
  2. Click on the yellow 'select' button.
  3. Choose the videos (and photos, if you wish) you would like to upload by clicking the small box next to each one.

  8. Enter your credit card and billing information, and click 'continue'.

  10. You'll be taken to a receipt page that includes your order number and what day your credit card will be charged next. You can edit or cancel your subscription at any time.
NOTE: When you upload any digital video or photo to your online account, only a copy of it is placed in your account. The original digital photo file remains unchanged on your computer. You can upload videos from your computer's hard drive, from a floppy disk, from a CD-ROM, or directly from a digital camera connected to your computer.
Uploading Videos from a phone

To email us your videos by mobile phone, just follow these steps:

  1. Send your videos to save@mysnapfish.co.uk
  2. When we receive your photos, we'll send you a text message that includes a key (a special code) and a specific address on the Snapfish website. Save this message.
  3. The next time you're at your computer, type the link into your browser.
  4. You'll see a pop-up window asking you to register for an account at Snapfish. If you already have an account, you can bypass this page and simply click the 'log in' link to the right. You'll also be asked to enter the key you received in the text message.
  5. Register for a Snapfish account by filling in the required information. You'll be taken to a page containing the videos you emailed. Check the box next to each video that you'd like to add to your account. Then click 'add to my account.'

NOTE: Whichever videos you do NOT check WILL BE DELETED.

  6. We hold emailed videos for one month after we receive them (or for two months if you already have an account with us). If you do not log in to the Snapfish website and add the videos to your account within that time period, they will be deleted from the site.

NOTE: Snapfish NEVER deletes photos from your phone or computer. (We can't!) We only delete photos from our website, if they have been emailed but not confirmed.

Sharing Videos with Friends
Sharing Video Overview
How to Share a Video or Albums, Step-by-Step
Common Questions About Sharing
Sharing Video Overview
Once you have a Snapfish Home Videos subscription, you can share videos with friends just like you share photos! Your friends do NOT need a Snapfish Home Videos subscription to watch your videos;

When you invite friends to see your online videos, we send an email invitation to them on your behalf. The email contains the following:

  • The name of the video or albums shared.
  • Step-by-step instructions on how to view your shared videos or albums.
  • A personalized message (if you wish).

Your friends click on a link within the email, which brings them to the Snapfish website. There, they're asked to type in their email address and choose a password. This ensures the privacy of your photos and videos and creates new Snapfish accounts for your friends, with viewing privileges for just the photos you invited them to see. In addition to being able to see all of your shared photos and videos, your friends can easily order their own reprints or enlargements at no cost to you.

Making Changes to a Shared Album

Sharing Videos

Who can I share videos with?
You can share your videos with anyone who has an email address and has a web browser.

Can I share one video from an album?
Yes, you can. To share a single video while viewing your album, click 'share' in the blue menu on the right side of the page. Then click 'share this video'.

Can I share more than one album at a time?
Yes, you can. To share multiple albums at one time, click the 'photos' tab at the top of any page to return to your photo library. From there, click 'share' in the blue menu on the right side of the page. Then click 'share albums.'

Can I share only certain photos or videos from an album, or do I have to share the whole thing?
When you share an album, your friends will see the entire album. However, before sharing an album, you can decide which photos and videos will stay in that album. To move photos, click 'edit & organize' in the blue menu on the right side of the page. Then click 'move photos' in the menu that appears below.

The video invite

What does the invite look like when my friends receive it?
The 'From' line on the email will be the first and last name on your Snapfish account. The 'To' line on the email will contain only the email address of an individual recipient. This means that recipients of a share email will not be able to see the email addresses of everyone else to whom you sent the share invitation.

The 'Subject' line of the email is standardized, or it can contain whatever you decide to enter. The main part of the email will contain the personalized message that you typed in, plus instructions on how to see your video or album(s) and a link.

If your recipients are able to view HTML-formatted emails, they will also see a preview of the video(s) you shared with them. When you share an album, the first photo or video in the album will appear in the invitation email. When you share a single photo, the photo will appear in the invitation email.

Will the invitation email tell my invited friends what to do?
The email contains instructions that tell your recipients exactly how to see your videos. All your recipients need to do is click on the link provided in the email and then type in their email address and choose a password. You can add your own personal message to the invitation as well.

Are there any email attachments involved?

There are no attachments to emails sent from the Snapfish website. The videos your friends see are securely stored in the Snapfish computer system, and they are viewed on the Snapfish website.

When your friends receive the share invite email from you, they will click on a link that brings them to the Snapfish website. They will then enter their email and password to create their own Snapfish account. From there, they will view your photos.

Can I write a personal message or change anything in the invite?
You can personalize the subject line and main message that will be sent to your recipients when you invite them to see your video or album(s). The instructions on how to see your photos cannot be changed.

How do I change my mind about sharing if I'm in the middle of the process?
Just click the gray 'cancel' button, and you will be returned to your library. The invitation email will not be sent.

How do I know the invitation was sent?
You can choose to receive a copy of the email by checking the box next to 'Send me a copy of this email' after you've selected your recipients. You will also see a confirmation page that contains the name of the album(s) or video and the list of email addresses from the invitation. If you want to keep a record of the people you've shared with, you can print this confirmation page.

After Sharing

Once I've shared a video or album(s), what can my friends do with it?
By signing in to Snapfish using an email address and a password, your friends can see the album or video anytime. Your friends cannot move, edit, re-caption, or delete the photos or videos within your album. As the album owner, only you have the ability to make changes to your album. Once you delete a video or album, it will also be deleted from your friends' accounts.

What do you do with the names of people I share with? The email addresses are added to your Snapfish address book, so you can share albums again without having to re-type email addresses. Snapfish will never use the email address of anyone you share with in any way other than to send an email invitation to share the album you selected.

Making changes to a shared album

If I share an album and then make changes to it, can my friends see the changes?
Yes. You still own your album; your recipients just have an invitation to see it. So your albums are always under your control. If you want to add photos or videos to an album, update photo captions or the name of the album, rotate photos, or delete them, then your invited recipients will see the same changes in your album the next time they view it.

When I share an album, can other people make changes to it?
No. Only the album's original owner can make changes to the album.

If I share an album and then choose to delete it, can invited friends still see the album in their own accounts?
No. After you delete an album, the recipients you have invited to see the album will no longer be able to see it.

I've shared an album, but don't want anyone to see it anymore. What can I do?
If you've already shared an album with friends, the only way you can prevent them from seeing it is by deleting it. One way you can do this without losing the photos is to move all the pictures into a new album and then delete the old, empty album.

Privacy of your photos

Why do my friends have to sign up when I share my pictures with them?
Asking your friends to create their own account by typing in their email address and choosing a password ensures the privacy and security of your pictures.

When I share with someone, do they have access to my account and other albums?
Absolutely not! When you share an album or videos with a friend, only that specific album or photo can be seen by your friend. The video(s) is viewed in your friend's own password-protected account on the Snapfish site.

The only person with access to your account is you. Your friends create their own accounts by typing in their email addresses and selecting passwords. From their accounts, they will have viewing privileges only for the photo(s) you shared with them, and any albums that they themselves create.

Can the public see my videos?
No. The only people who see your video(s) are those people who receive an email invitation from you to see the video(s). If you've given permission for your friends to re-share an album, they can also share it with others.
